Hachlata is operated by Lavi Klein ("Hachlata", "we"). This explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
The short version
We collect the minimum needed to run the app. We never sell your data, we show no ads, and we use no tracking software. The details of your hachlatos are private and are never shown on public leaderboards.
Who can use Hachlata
Hachlata is for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you are under 13, a parent or guardian can use the app on their own account.
What we collect
- Account: your email and password (stored encrypted), and when you joined.
- Profile: your username, birth year (for the 13+ check and general demographics), your settings, XP, and streak-freezes.
- Your hachlatos and activity: the resolutions you create and your check-ins, streaks, and milestones. This reflects your religious practice and is treated as sensitive information.
- Social: your friends and chabura (group) memberships and invitations.
- Leaderboard: for a resolution you set to Worldwide or Circles — your username, the resolution's category, and your streak. Your resolution titles are never shown.
- Permissions: camera (only while scanning a friend's QR code; images are not stored) and notifications (for your reminders).
We do not collect your location, contacts, or photos, and we use no advertising identifiers.
Sensitive information
Information about your religious practice — which your hachlatos reveal — is treated as sensitive. We use it only to provide the app to you, and, where the law requires, based on the consent you give at signup. You can withdraw it at any time by deleting your account.
How we use your information
- To run the app and your account, and to calculate streaks and leaderboards.
- To send the reminders you turn on.
- To operate friends and shared resolutions.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the app is used so we can improve it.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Who can see your information
- Other users: only what you choose. Worldwide shows your username, a category, and a streak publicly; Circles shows it to friends; Private shows it to no one. New resolutions start as Circles, and your titles are never shown.
- Service providers: Supabase (database and hosting) and Expo (app updates).
- The Ohel email: only if you use the Du"ch feature and press send in your own email app.
We never sell or rent your information.
Where your data is stored
Our providers may store and process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
The "Du"ch to the Ohel" feature
If you use it, the app helps you write an email and hands it to your own email app to send. The Hebrew names you type are used only to build that email and are never stored by us.
How long we keep it
As long as your account is active. Deleting your account (Profile then Settings) permanently removes your data from our systems.
Your rights and choices
- Delete your account and all of its data, any time, from within the app.
- Access, correct, or export your information — contact us.
- Change any resolution's visibility, or turn off notifications.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) and the CCPA (California). We honor these as the law requires.
Security
Database rules restrict every user to their own data, and passwords are stored encrypted by our provider. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
Hachlata is for ages 13 and up. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Promotions and sponsorships
From time to time we may offer optional community challenges (any prize would have its own official rules), and we may display sponsorship or dedication messages. Sponsorship messages do not share your personal information with the sponsor.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves or the law changes. We will post the new version in the app and update the date above.
